The Loma Linda University Health Lifestyle Medicine Fellowship
A one-year investment that will change the way you practice medicine forever
Loma Linda University has a long-standing commitment to healthful lifestyle practices, disease prevention, and global health dating back its inception in 1905. The University’s motto “To Make Man Whole” encapsulates its dedication to addressing the physical, mental, emotional, social, and spiritual aspects of individuals while promoting a healthful lifestyle as an integral part of long-term health. Loma Linda’s first Lifestyle Medicine Fellowship dates back to 2002, and over the years, graduates of the University have played instrumental roles in establishing the American College of Lifestyle Medicine, American Board of Lifestyle Medicine, Physician Competencies in Lifestyle Medicine Practice, and countless Lifestyle Based Clinical models and Lifestyle Centers around the globe.
Our 1-year Lifestyle Medicine fellowship program seeks to provide physicians with high-quality education, and training needed to provide comprehensive lifestyle interventions that will address chronic disease burden, and improve clinical outcomes in individuals, populations, and communities.
Lifestyle Medicine fellows will participate in a structured, intensive curriculum designed to provide in-depth and practical knowledge. Upon completion, fellows will be eligible to sit for the American Board of Lifestyle Medicine Certification (ABLM). The curriculum involves in-person didactics, independent online study, and clinical practicums in outpatient, inpatient, and residential settings. Fellows are also expected to participate in a lifestyle-related research project.
Educational Goals and Objectives
Lifestyle Medicine fellows will address Core Lifestyle Medicine Competencies, and demonstrate proficiency in practice-based learning through evidence-based Lifestyle Medicine guidelines. They will also be expected to implement core Lifestyle Medicine practices in their personal lives.
In addition to the above each fellowship will provide:
